Monday - Today

Subject-Verb Agreement


Inverted Sentences - a sentence in which the subject follows the verb. Locate the subject and make sure the subject and verb agrees.
Ex. 4 - p. 613:  Write sentences with the correct verb. #s 1,3,5,7,9

Agreement with special subjects p. 614-615. Read. Discuss as a class examples of collective nouns (singular and plural), special subjects, numbers as nouns, etc.

2nd & 3rd - Listen to Odyssey on classzone.com. (Sirens, Charybdis, and Sylla); watch Odyssey mini-series.
4th - Take notes on dialect and examples. Listen to excerpt from Blues Ain't No Mockin Bird on classzone.com. Complete character graphic organizer, list 2 examples of dialect from book, and answer questions:

1. What might have happened if Grandaddy didn't come home when he did?
2. How does Grandaddy get the men to leave the house?
3. What does Cathy mean when she says she is going to write a story about a hammer?

4th Homework - Vocabulary words from p. 887 in Literature Book - words and definitions.
