Subject complements are words that follow a linking verb and identify or describe the subject. They are either predicate adjectives which are adjectives that describe the subject. Predicate nominatives are nouns or pronouns that identify or rename the subject.
1. All day the sky looked threatening.

3. The roads become icy in the early evening.
