Wed. & Thurs.

Copy the information: Tuesday's bellringer

  • Quoting is taking an author’s direct words, putting them in quotation marks and citing the source of the information.
  • Paraphrasing is reading the information and restating the author’s ideas using different words.
  • Summarizing is condensing the main idea into a few sentences.
All three should give credit to the source.

Object Complements Thursday
p. 506 Grammar Book:
An object complement answers the question what? after a Direct Object (completing its meaning)
It usually follows a direct object and can be an adjective, noun, or pronoun.

Residents appointed Mr. Smith president of the homeowner's association.
Maija considered the honor hers.

Ex. 17 - 1-5. Write the object complement in each sentence.
Ex. 18 - Sentence 3 & 4 - Write the sentence adding an object complement.
