Tuesday

1st and 2nd period bellringer In preparation for your research introductory paragraphs, please review the information on p. 559 in Write Source about Nonstandard English.

Nonstandard English is not recommended for formal writing which you will use in your research projects.
Write the sentences below: Cross out the nonstandard language and double negatives in the sentences below. Write a correction, when needed, above the words. (One sentence is correct as written.)
1. Not long ago, a team of divers went off to Texas to explore the Gulf of Mexico.
2. They wanted to locate a certain sunken ship.
3. It had settled in at a 12-foot depth and was covered with silt.
4. They didn’t barely know where to begin.
5. The public believed the team didn’t have no idea where that ship was at.
