Thursday and Friday

Thursday, Sept. 2:
1st, 2nd, & 5th periods - Today's topic Thursday; News article about the gang-rapes in the Congo.  If you were absent, see me for an article.  The questions were:  1.  Summarize the main idea of the article.  2.  Do you think the U.S. and other countries have an obligation to intervene?  Why or why not?
Grammar in 1st - Pronouns:  discussion and notes on types of pronouns; worksheet for homework.
2nd period - grammar discussion on nouns, using specific nouns and appositives;
5th period:  pronouns & Book Club meeting on We Beat the Streets.

Friday, Sept. 3
1st, 2nd, and 5th periods:  Bell ringer - Free write for 5 minutes;  Read diary entries and discuss from Freedom Writers Diary.
2nd period - read in We Beat the Street
