Monday

1st block  English 9 H Bellringer:  Conjunctive Adverbs -
Write 2 sentences about To Kill a Mockingbird using a conjunctive adverb. Refer to p. 479 for examples. Use proper punctuation.
Example:
Dill was upset that his new father wasn't paying him attention; consequently, he decided to run away.
Daily - Game of Shakespearean terms; watch Andy Griffith clip about Romeo and Juliet; watch Talk Like Shakespeare Clips.
 
2nd block: Speech Bellringer:  Define confidence in your own words.
Daily:  Discuss stage fright and perceptions; take notes; practice impromptu speaking
 
3rd block:  Define basic debate terms-
  • Debate: a competition in which two opposing teams make speeches to support their arguments and disagree with those of the other team.
  •  Resolution: the opinion about which two teams argue.
  •  Affirmative team: agrees with the resolution.
  •  Negative team: disagrees with the resolution.
  •  Rebuttal: explains why one team disagrees with the other team.
  •  Judges: decide the winner.
Daily:  Take a Stand Game - Discuss issues of negotiation & bracket debate
