All Blocks Bellringer: Write the prepositional phrases in the following sentences. The first two are in italics.
"Maycomb was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I first knew it. In rainy weather the streets turned to red slop; grass grew on the sidewalks, the courthouse sagged in the square. Somehow, it was hotter then: a black dog suffered on a summer's day; bony mules hitched to Hoover carts flicked flies in the sweltering shade
of the live oaks on the square. Men's stiff collars wilted by nine in the morning. Ladies bathed before noon, after their three-o'clock baths and by nightfall were like soft teacakes with frostings of sweat and sweet talcum."

Write 2 sentences about characters from the novel To Kill a Mockingbird using at least one prepositional phrase in each.

English Honors (2nd & 3rd blocks) covered Chapter 12 in class today. Also answered the following:
Atticus said that Mrs. Dubose had real courage. Courage, he says is, "…when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what." What is your opinion of his definition? What is your definition of courage?
Quiz tomorrow on Chapters 7-12.

4th Block - Read Chapter 10 for homework. Quiz on Friday.
